Mental Health First Aid Training


MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID ​(MHFA) trainings are currently available to Pierce County residents at no cost and several others classes are also available for a small fee. MHFA is an 8-hour training for adults that teaches warning signs of mental crises and symptoms of specific disorders like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders. Participants learn a 5-step action plan to offer initial assistance to someone developing a mental health problem, or in mental crisis, and help them connect to needed care and support. ​MHFA is taught by certified MHFA Instructors, using an established curriculum. Youth MHFA has a different (although similar) curriculum, and is for adults supporting youth age 12-18 years. The following trainings are being offered and registration is now open:
