What is Recovery?

Recovery from serious mental illness is not only possible, but for many people living with mental illness today, probable. The notion of recovery involves a variety of perspectives.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with NAMI Pierce County! Volunteers are essential to the work that NAMI does. Listed below are just a few of the ways that you can get involved in our mental health movement in Pierce County:

  • Community Outreach Around Pierce County

Time: Flexible to fit with your schedule

Location: Pick any city/area in Pierce County (Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Fife, University Place, etc.)

Duties: Drop off our flyers, brochures and business cards to different locations around Pierce County. A list of locations will be provided (hospitals, schools, health care centers, etc.)

  • Board Positions & Chair Positions

Time: Flexible. Depends on the position.

Location: Flexible.

Duties: Participate actively as a member of our board by focusing on improving a specific aspect of NAMI Pierce County and support building the legacy of the organization. Interested? Fill out the form below for more details and an outline of open positions.

  • Program Facilitator

Time: Flexible. Depends on program.

Location: Flexible.

Duties: Facilitate a support group or class. (Participation in state training is required. Please take a look at our upcoming training dates)
